Nebra Sky Disc | A4 Artwork | Archaeology Gifts
Handmade print of the Nebra Sky Disc!
The Nebra Sky Disc dates from Bronze Age Europe. It is the oldest known representation of astronomical work. It depicts the Sun or Full Moon, the Crescent Moon, and 32 stars. The small cluster of stars is thought to be the Pleiades, which had great importance for the rural calendar to Bronze Age farmers for harvesting and sowing. Before its discovery, no one believed prehistoric people were capable of such astronomical knowledge.
